The University of Alabama

Capstone Association of Black Journalists

Community Service

We give back through the Oakdale After-School Journalism Program, where members teach elementary students the fundamentals of journalism. Our organization also partners with local service efforts in Tuscaloosa, including Secret Meals for Hungry Children and The Salvation Army school supply drives.

Career Development

We provide students with meaningful opportunities to connect with industry professionals and nationally recognized recruiters. Our development initiatives include in-person networking trips, virtual panel discussions, and resume-building media projects designed to prepare members for success in the communications industry.

Journalism

At our core, we are storytellers and media professionals united by a passion for sharing voices and building connections through storytelling. Our work is showcased in the monthly newsletter, for the first time ever printed on newspaper and published digitally, and through CABJ TV, a new initiative created to help our members thrive as a campus media organization at The Capstone.
